A data guy who is interested in building data products and leveraging data science to solve business problems and enhance user experience.

I grew up in Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam. In high school, I was inspired by my cousin, a game engine expert, to pursue Computer Science. That led me to take the entrance exam for Hanoi University of Science and Technology, where I studied Computer Science among talented students and inspiring lecturers.

My first professional role was as a Machine Learning Engineer at Apvera in 2017. It was a small startup, and I quickly learned that machine learning cannot work well without a solid data pipeline. I worked with Lambda architecture, using Spark Streaming for near real-time consumers, Spark SQL and MemSQL for the batch layer, and Superset for visualization.

In late 2017, I joined Beeketing, which later became OCG after rebranding. One of the products I worked on most closely was Boost Sales, an app designed to encourage customers to buy more than one product in a session through upsell and bundling suggestions. Working on that product helped me solve difficult problems that required both machine learning and computer science, including cold-start challenges, API serving, and keeping ML pipelines aligned with business requirements.

In the middle of 2020, I joined One Mount Group, where I currently work as a Data Scientist focused on personalizing user experience across the ecosystem, from VinID and One Housing to VinShop.
